coarse Dreams - Types of Dreams We Have and Why We Have Them

Dream interpretation and prognosis may seem complicated, even mystical. Here's a practical guide to the base types of dreams we have and why we dream them in the first place.

Dream Interpretation Teeth

Recurring Dreams

A recurring dream is a dream which you feel on different nights and often over a long period of time. I have had the same recurring dream since my youthful years in which I'm on a horse galloping over a vast desert. Citizen who have had post-traumatic stress disorder may have recurring dreams about the traumatic situation although the dream may not be literal. Recurring dreams may involve any subject, but base themes are flying, being naked, having your teeth fall out and falling.

If there has been a traumatic event in your past, it might be worthwhile seeking a resolution, to stop the dream from re-visiting.

Lucid Dreams (When We Know We Are Dreaming)

These are dreams that we consciously, or half-consciously know we are dreaming. You might be engaged in a dream and it feels very real, then suddenly wake up and say 'wait a second, this is a dream'. Sometimes in your half-awake state you even actively participate and change your dream.

Healing Dreams

Healing dreams might point out a corporeal ailment. Dream interpreters believe it is your body's way of telling you that something's not quite right physically. A trip to the doctor might be in order. Dreaming of your teeth falling out does not necessarily mean you need to visit the dentist. Losing teeth is one of the most base dreams and it commonly symbolizes some kind of insecurity about your appearance or the judgment of others.

Pregnancy And Dreams

Soon-to-be moms note that their dreams change while pregnancy. There are several inherent causes for this. Sometimes vivid dreams are caused by a change in your hormonal background, other times your body is feeling corporeal ache as you sleep: perhaps there is pressure on your bladder or you have backache. And of course, there may be underground fears about your unborn baby's health, childbirth and all the responsibilities and pressures a new child may bring. Try some stress-relieving activities such as meditation or a chat with friends to try and relax yourself before sleep time.

Prophetic Dreams Or Psychic Dreams

These are dreams that seem to foretell the future. For example, you may dream a close friend or relative has died and you are all gathered at the funeral. In Roman times, these kind of dreams might be taken very seriously indeed. Usually, it is our unconscious mind gathering bits and pieces of information to come to a supposition or inherent scenario that we might not have determined consciously.

Nightmares

A nightmare is a disturbing dream. It might cause the dreamer to wake up in the middle of the night in a state of fear or anxiousness. Nightmares cannot cause you harm and if it happens only occasionally then just let them be. Sometimes feeling sick such as having a fever can cause nightmares. However, there is a link in the middle of nightmares and post-traumatic stress disorder, acute stress disorder, psychiatric problems, bad drug experiences and relationship/other personal problems.

Night Terror Or Sleep Terror

Night terrors (also known as sleep terrors) are commonly only suffered by children around the ages of 3-12. If you have ever seen a child having a night terror, it can be very upsetting. Their eyes might be wide open, they sit up straight and look as if they are starring at something terrible in the corner. No wonder there are so many children's books about monsters in the projection of the room. Night terrors tend to happen while deep non-Rem sleep and within the first 2-3 hours of sleep, whereas nightmares commonly happen while Rem sleep and later in the sleep cycle. Although it is disturbing to see a night terror in action, it is best to let the child be. They should calm down within a few minutes, even though it will seem like the longest minutes ever.

Daydreams

Studies suggest we daydream 70-120 minutes a day. Daydreaming is a level consciousness in the middle of wakefulness and sleep.
